Better working conditions for Farm Workers.
Motivation:
Due to his father losing his job at an early age, and his family being forced to sell their ranch and live in migrant camps, Cesar had a firm connection with farm workers, their low wages, and poor conditions.
Occupation:
Worked in the Vineyards of California, from the time he quit school in eighth grade, to the time he joined the Navy in 1944, where he served in the pacific theater during the Second World War. When he returned he continued to work in the fields of California, but soon thereafter joined the Community Service Organization (CSO). Fighting for wages and better conditions for Farm workers. In 1958, Chavez became General Director of the CSO. in 1962, Chavez Founded his own organization, the National Farm Workers Association (later changed to United Farm Workers (UFW) ).
